Project duration  – 36 months (01 January 2026 – 31 December 2028)

Project No.: 101237563 — GreenBUILD — ERASMUS-EDU-2025-CBHE

Grant from the EU: 799 957,84 €

The project “Green & Energy-Efficient Building Design for UA Renovation” (GreenBUILD) is aimed generally on reducing the overall environmental impact of buildings, increase their energy efficiency, creating healthier indoor and outdoor spaces, and promoting the use of renewable energy sources through EU/TR-UA universities collaboration, for training of new generation of experts educated as in building and construction engineering, so in ecological and energy efficiency aspects. It is expected within the project to teach new cohort of qualified staff ready to work in fast developing and changing professional environment, with knowledge and skills corresponding to new age demands: interdisciplinary openness, capability of understanding engineering and construction issues in a systematic and in-depth way, using the tools for modelling and evaluation of potential environmental and technological risks, their mitigation.

GreenBUILD EU-based Master program (in the field of Building and Civil Engineering) is planned to be developed within the project in response to the present state of affairs in Ukraine (necessity of civil infrastructure reconstruction), as well as to common current defiances – accomplishing sustainable development goals and labour market needs.

The Project supports transfer of the most recent knowledge and good practices available at the Programme countries’ HEIs – IT, EST, SE, TR in the field of Eco-Friendly & Energy-Efficient Building Technologies to UA Universities, considering all challenges that are required by modern EU and national technological, safety, economic and environmental standards and trends (e.g. European Green Deal, Industry 5.0, etc.). It is foreseen to introduce developed MSc. Programs at 5 UA universities; to develop Teaching Materials for GreenBUILD MP support; to establish GreenBUILD LABs for students at UA HEIs; to launch Massive Open Online Course; to provide GreenBUILD students pilot and Experts’ advanced trainings.

10 Master Courses (50 ECTS in total) for specialty “Construction and Civil Engineering”:

Course 1 – Energy-Efficiency and Indoor Climate in Buildings

Course 2 – Building Integrated Solar Energy Systems

Course 3 – Sustainable Development in Construction Design

Course 4 – Digital Technologies for Green Building Design

Course 5 – Energy and Urban Planning

Course 6 – Ventilation Technology and Indoor Air Quality in Buildings

Course 7 – Daylighting and Lighting Engineering

Course 8 – Advanced Green Construction Materials

Course 9 – Building Damage and Renovation

Course 10 – System for Ensuring Reliability and Safety of Buildings (VR/AR based)

Modern learning environment development mainly aimed at the establishment of Green Building Labs (Resource Centres) in 5 partner Universities, improvement of their infrastructure, and increasing professionalism of academic staff in the field of sustainable construction and energy-efficient building design.

Within the project, the following activities will be implemented:

  • development and launch of the MOOC “GreenBUILD Academy: Mastering Sustainable Practices in Construction”;
  • creation of the interactive platform “Digital Maps of Green Buildings”;
  • mobility opportunities for the best MSc students;
  • intensive teaching weeks in partner HEIs;
  • organisation of Green Hackathons focused on real-life challenges in sustainable construction;
  • organisation of Green Exhibitions showcasing innovative student and professional projects;
  • development of practice-oriented MSc theses in cooperation with industry stakeholders;
  • pilot training and upskilling activities for external experts and professionals;
  • interactive workshop “Sustainable and Barrier-Free Cities: Innovations in Green Building and Inclusive Urban Design”.

Target groups:

  • potential and current GreenBUILD MSc students;
  • academic and technical staff of partner HEIs;
  • staff of HEIs willing to introduce or modernise MSc programmes in green building and sustainable construction;
  • professionals (engineers, architects, urban planners);

construction companies, architectural and engineering organisations, public authorities, and other stakeholders, who will benefit both from GreenBUILD MSc graduates (future employees) and from training and upskilling opportunities within the project.
