From 12 to 16 January 2026, the GreenBUILD project officially began its journey with a dynamic and engaging Kick-off Meeting held in Kütahya, Türkiye, hosted by Kütahya Dumlupınar University.
Bringing together partners from across Europe and Ukraine, the meeting marked not just the formal start of the project under the Erasmus+ Programme (KA2 – Capacity Building in Higher Education, Strand 2), but also the beginning of a shared vision for greener, smarter, and more resilient construction education.
🌍 A Strong Start: Full Consortium Together
For the first time, representatives of all partner universities and associated partners met in person, creating a vibrant platform for collaboration, exchange of ideas, and joint planning.
The diversity of the consortium – combining academic excellence, practical expertise, and policy perspectives – was clearly reflected in the discussions, setting a strong tone for the project ahead.
🌱 Building the Future Together
GreenBUILD is more than an academic initiative – it is a response to real challenges. The project focuses on preparing a new generation of professionals capable of designing sustainable, energy-efficient, and climate-resilient buildings, particularly in the context of Ukraine’s recovery.
During the meeting, partners aligned their vision around key priorities:
modernising Master’s programmes in construction and related fields;
creating innovative learning environments through new laboratories and resource centres;
empowering educators and students through international training and collaboration.
🤝 The People Behind the Project
The meeting was characterised by open dialogue, active engagement, and a shared sense of responsibility. Participants not only discussed technical aspects of the project but also reflected on its broader societal impact.
A strong emphasis was placed on cooperation, mutual learning, and long-term sustainability of results.
📌 From Planning to Action
Over several intensive working sessions, the consortium:
explored the structure and logic of the project work packages (WP1–WP6);
clarified management and coordination mechanisms;
defined the first concrete steps of implementation, including needs analysis, team formation, and curriculum development;
initiated the roadmap for establishing GreenBUILD laboratories.
🚀 Looking Ahead
The Kick-off Meeting in Kütahya laid a solid foundation for effective collaboration and ambitious results.
With a shared commitment and a clear vision, the GreenBUILD consortium is now ready to move forward — contributing to the transformation of higher education and supporting the development of sustainable and energy-efficient building practices in Ukraine.
