As Ukraine continues its recovery and reconstruction efforts, improving the energy performance of damaged buildings has become a critical priority. Addressing this challenge requires innovative approaches, modern technologies, and highly qualified professionals capable of designing sustainable and resilient solutions.
On 28 May 2026, an interdepartmental scientific seminar entitled “Energy-Efficient Reconstruction of Damaged Buildings: Assessing the Impact on Energy Performance Indicators” was organised within the framework of the GreenBUILD project.
The event brought together academic staff, researchers, and PhD students to exchange knowledge and discuss current approaches to building reconstruction, thermal modernisation, and sustainable renovation in line with European energy-efficiency requirements and environmental standards.
Participants explored a range of important issues related to sustainable reconstruction, including:
Discussions highlighted the significant potential of comprehensive energy-efficiency measures to reduce energy consumption, lower operational costs, and decrease greenhouse gas emissions in reconstructed buildings.
Participants also identified promising thermal modernisation solutions and renewable energy technologies that can support the transition towards more sustainable and climate-resilient buildings.
The seminar directly supports the objectives of the GreenBUILD project, which promotes innovative educational approaches and capacity building in the field of sustainable and energy-efficient construction.
By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and sharing expertise on European standards and best practices, the event contributed to strengthening knowledge and competencies that are essential for the green transformation of the construction sector and the sustainable recovery of Ukraine.
The outcomes of the seminar will serve as a foundation for further research, educational activities, and practical recommendations on the reconstruction of damaged buildings in accordance with modern European energy-efficiency standards.
