As part of the GreenBUILD Needs Analysis, the Ukrainian partner universities successfully completed a series of stakeholder interviews and consultations aimed at ensuring that the future Master’s programme in Green and Energy-Efficient Building Design reflects the real needs of the construction sector.

Throughout March 2026, academic teams from the Ukrainian partner institutions engaged with employers, construction companies, engineering firms, public authorities, professional associations, and other stakeholders involved in sustainable construction and Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction. These consultations complemented the large-scale online survey conducted within the project and provided valuable qualitative insights into labour market expectations.

The discussions focused on the competencies required for future professionals, including energy-efficient building design, sustainable renovation, Building Information Modelling (BIM), digital construction technologies, circular economy principles, and climate-resilient infrastructure. Stakeholders also highlighted the importance of strengthening practical training, university–industry cooperation, and the integration of European standards into higher education.

One of the dissemination activities was organised by O. M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv (NUUE), where representatives of the Department of Building Structures conducted interviews with construction industry stakeholders and promoted the objectives of the GreenBUILD project among professional communities.

The outcomes of these consultations have become an important component of the GreenBUILD Needs Analysis Report and will directly support the development of ten modern Master’s courses that are currently being jointly designed by Ukrainian and European partner universities.

By actively involving employers and industry experts in curriculum development, the GreenBUILD consortium is ensuring that the future study programme equips graduates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to support the sustainable reconstruction and green transition of Ukraine.
